π± Two separate rolls: species, then color
A Big Flower's final result is decided by two independent random rolls: first the flower species, then the color. The species roll happens first, and it's what your petal choice actually influences. The color roll happens after, and it's limited to whichever colors that particular species is able to produce β but which exact color you get within that range is still random.
π― What planting a petal type actually does
When you plant (or use) a specific petal type, you're steering the species outcome toward that type of flower β not locking in a color. So if you plant petals hoping for, say, a pink flower, you can influence which species blooms, but the game still rolls the color independently afterward.
β What it doesn't do
- Planting a petal color does not guarantee that color on the resulting flower.
- Two players who plant the exact same petal type can end up with different-colored blooms, because the color roll is separate for each flower.
π‘ Takeaway
If you're chasing a specific flower species (say, for a particular decor or Community Badge), planting the matching petal type reliably gets you there. If you're chasing a specific color, treat it as a random bonus on top of the species you're aiming for β there's currently no known way to force a specific color result.
If you find a spot that only ever gives one decor type, that's a pure spot β the fastest way to farm exactly the decor you want. Check the community map to see verified pure spots near you.
